Training
At CAN-AM, training isn't just a one-time thing.
Here is just a sample of the training in which our members participate:
- First Aid & CPR (required of all members with renewal every two years)
- Advanced Wilderness First Aid
- Lincoln County radio use class (required of all members)
- NASAR (National Association of Search and Rescue) SARTECH III (required of all members)
- NASAR (National Association of Search and Rescue) SARTECH II
- Northern Rockies Avalanche Safety Workshop
- Montana SAR Rendezvous
- In-house avalanche safety and search training (both classroom and field work, open to the public)
- Ice rescue training (field work)
- 4X4 Training (effective search measures)

Below are links to on-line courses that may be taken at your leisure. Once you arrive at the course page, on the right will be a link titled “Take this course” Click on the link and proceed through the course materials. After you finish go back to the main page and click on the icon labeled “Take the final exam”. After completing the test it will ask for your name, SSN, agency and contact information. Be sure to include a good email address. Submit the information and your test will be scored. When you pass, your completion certificate will be emailed to you. Print that certificate and bring to the CAN-AM SAR barn and place in the training officers' box so that it can be recorded in the training database. Please do this for each course shown below.
